Ukiah, Oregon, Umatilla National Forest
In the summer of 2020 I worked for the Forest Service mapping and delineating wetlands throughout Eastern Oregon. Additionally, I independently performed stream inventories, riparian inventories and wildfire suppression repair.
- Independently performed wetland delineations, stream inventories, and riparian inventories
- Determined the presence and relative abundance of hydrophytic vegetation
- Utilized common field equipment including: topographic maps, aerial photographs, compasses, clinometers, and stream temperature data loggers
- Collected field data on wildlife habitat and vegetation for improvement plans
- Utilized GIS and GPS applications to map wetland meadows
- Constructed beaver dam analogues to achieve stream restoration goals
- Helped to establish and implement wildfire suppression repair plans, including utilizing GPS to map and rehabilitate impacted areas such as dozer lines and hand lines
- Monitored the condition of wetlands, streams, and springs for potential impacts from livestock
- Used crosscut saws to clear trails of large diameter trees in wilderness areas
- Drove a 4WD three quarter ton truck to remote work sites on gravel and dirt roads
